6.Mammography
- It¡¦s best to schedule mammograms seven to ten days after menstruation begins.
- On the day of your mammogram, avoid using deodorant or powder. These substances contain chemicals which could affect the results of your mammogram.
- Refrain from ingesting caffeine the day before the exam.
- Wear a two-piece outfit. This will make disrobing from the waist up more convenient.
- The person who performs your mammogram is called a technologist. You should follow her instructions carefully, especially when she asks you to hold yours breath and remain still. This will reduce any motion which may blur the image.
- The technologist must compress your breasts so that the internal structures are properly visualized. Although it may be a bit uncomfortable, this compression is a necessary part of the exam.
