Taiwan Adventist Hospital is one of over 400 healthcare institutions operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in a worldwide mission system. The Church and the Hospital was relocated from Shanghai to Taipei in 1949.

Dr. Harry Miller, the founder of the hospital, began the establishment and the hospital was officially opened on March 28, 1955. The original hospital with its 70-bed soon acquired the reputation of being the foremost medical facility in Taiwan. Due to the high demand of patient care and expansion of new equipment and facilities, the present new building was established in 1986 with a total registered beds of 450. Since 1994 the hospital was accredited by the Health Department as a Regional Teaching Hospital.
